Well this has been a shit week to say the least. For the last year we've had gear die, electrical issues, time fuck-ups, and been financially ass raped. In fact if I so much as brush up against my drums (I play Roland electronic drums these days) it shocks my fucking computers thanks to the cunt ass land lord and the one three prong yet ungrounded outlet he's been so gracious to give us to run everything off. What that means to you guys is probably nothing but with 5 writers on staff this site is about as alive as Howie Mandel's sex. Translation--heads up this might just be the end. [ more ]

M-Audio the 'M' is for MORON!
I use M-Audio in my studio and while I don't have a lot good to say the good just got much less. You see recent problems have brought me into some hard decisions about my computers and my best choice is to replace them. That said I set out to do so only to find my audio card from M-Audio has no 64bit drivers. This doesn't sound like a huge problem but any computer worth buying at this point is going to have 4 or more gigs of RAM and a 64bit operating system. Vista is 64bit, XP has a 64bit version, Mac OS X is 64bit, and so on. The point is that these cards are being sold with a note printed on the box 64bit capable but the drivers are fucking vaporware to this point. To make matters worse these assholes just emailed me a quiz to get into the closed beta! I don't think I need to take a quiz to use the hardware I paid for, nor do I think using drivers that may or may not work is even remotely in my interest when I'm trying to capture a great take only to have shitty beta drivers flake out. Not to mention these are drivers for a platform that has been out for like 6 years! [ more ]

New Technology, puke...
Well fuck! It's super fucking late and I've been up all night wasting my fucking time when I should have been studying...why? Good question. Why the fuck was I up all night, and now writing about it. Well it's pretty simple really. I recently had my computers primary video card die on me. It was a piece of shit to begin with but it did the job. So with it dead I was left with a question. Nuke my savings for a whole new rig or try to replace the card. Just for the record replacing the card isn't as easy as it sounds so I was left with a shitty balancing act that seems to waste more time than anything. [ more ]

Lightning (v0.9) - will they ever get it right?
Once again I look at the lightning extension for the email client Thunderbird. A reliable calendar is fairly essential to any email or PIM software these days and Thunderbird while a wonderful email client seems stuck with a tormented and confused implementation of a calendar. [ more ]

Apple releases new laptops, might be worth while
It's been a grave yard around here with little time to post about anything but I'll sneak this in for the time being. Apple just released their new line of MacBook and MacBook pro's. Are Net Radio DJ's retarded?
It's been a while since I've been a I've been a 'Techno' sort of mood but today I decided to toss on some Net Radio. A few years back when everyone was scared new laws regarding royalties would kill net radio I was pretty upset.
